The Communications Clerk is located in Country Office (CO) and reports to either the Communications Analyst and /or Assistant Representative
Job Purpose
The Communications Clerk supports the Country Office Communication Team to ensure and increase the visibility of UNFPA’s mandate with partners, donors, media and the public.
Major Activities/Expected Results
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Advocacy and communication strategies:
  • Assist in following up the production of advocacy and communication materials such as short movies, high quality Images, other printed & audio-visual products;
  • Gather and up load the content of relevant country efforts on advocacy and communications for dissemination through UNFPA website and social networks as well as traditional media channels;
  • Contributing in drafting and reviewing articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials for both web-based, traditional media and social media as appropriate;
  • Provide assistance in preparing high quality reporting inputs for mandatory UNFPA reports as well as those related to Country Office projects; ;
  • Assist in supporting donors visibility efforts by contributing to various communication and visibility products customized for various donor requirements;
  • Support in developing fact sheets, using standard formats with inputs from the UNFPA CO projects and /or programmes;
  • Assist in monitor local level media and social networks and brief communication officer about the public perception of UNFPA at the field office level and recommend appropriate action to maintain a positive image of the organization at the field level;
  • Helping in maintaining an up to date database for advocacy materials, as well as photography and audio-visual materials at the Country Office;
  • Ensure that all communications materials are in line with the UNFPA Communication Policy;
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and updating database for the Country Office of the organizations, stakeholders and key allies whose support is essential to promote UNFPA’s mandate;
  • Organize advocacy events with main partner organizations, including government institutions, civil society organizations, donors, private sector, etc.
  • Support during the field visits, donor and media tours as required,
Financial and administrative support:
  • Follow up on annual work plan budget and all financial activities of the communication area;
  • Organize data and information, maintains records, files and work plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation;
  • Assist in the financial and administrative processes for the communication team as well as provide budgetary support in Atlas as required;
